Panoramic video product and software company GoPano introduced 360 degree video to the masses with their iPhone app and attachable lens. Experimental indie rock group Tanlines tapped into this technology for the music video for "Brothers" off their upcoming album, Mixed Emotions. Though their use of an interactive, 360 video is simple, the result is mind-blowing.
The video takes place in an apartment living room with guitarist/vocalist Eric Emm hanging out on a couch in jeans and socks. As he moves about, answering the door for bandmate Jesse Cohen, the viewer is invited to follow them around the room (by clicking and dragging the mouse) as they mess with the guitar, piano and a set of drums.
The plot line is simple, but play around with shifting the perspective -- try the wide-shot too -- and it completely transforms what would be an average concept.
The Brooklyn-based duo's funky electronics and pop beats are the kicker. You'll catch yourself doing one of those awkward chair dances because their music is just that damn good.
